As one of my favorite projects, this storytelling initiative was born from the shared enthusiasm of a few dedicated football fans. We drew inspiration from iconic platforms like Soccerbible, GQ, and Versus to produce in-depth, interview-style content that delves into the lives and journeys of Australian footballers, providing them the spotlight they truly deserve
Our goals were really to elevate the profile of athletes who often fly under the radar in Australia's sports landscape. While soccer might not always receive the same coverage as other sports, we aimed to change that by recognizing these athletes, sharing their compelling stories, and enhancing their presence in the country. We wanted to celebrate their achievements and inspire others by showcasing their passion and dedication.
The Ultra Mag series was a labor of love, built on direct engagement with the athletes themselves. Identifying athletes who resonated with our vision, we embarked on a collaborative journey, crafting each narrative and photoshoot to tell their unique stories. When athletes were affiliated with major brands, we ensured seamless communication to align our content with their branding requirements. This collaborative approach not only ensured authenticity but also strengthened our relationships within the football community.
Our efforts bore fruit, resulting in a devoted following on Instagram and an impressive international reach. Collaborating with Soccerbible on a piece validated our approach and expanded our influence. The success of Ultra Mag opened doors to work with Nike on the Nike FC Cup, an amateur women's football tournament, where we continued to deliver elevated storytelling pieces. The Ultra Mag series has not only highlighted the talents of Australian footballers but also cemented its place as a trusted voice in the football community, bridging the gap between athletes and fans through compelling narratives.
